Panzotta (Belly)

Eccola qui, la mia panzotta di sette mesi e mezzo avvolta nel gilet Noro che sta risultando utilissimo. Diciamo che già sono stanca... ma quando arriva???

Damiano ha rotto l'ennesimo telefonino. Sono andata in un negozio chiedendo un modello ANTIBAMBINO. La commessa mi ha guardato perplessa. Alla fine ne ho scelto uno con tecnologia elementare: chiamate ed sms, schermo monocromatico, tasti giganti e costo irrisorio. Il migliore affare della mia vita. E quanto dura dura.

Damiano broke another mobile. I've purchased a new one, asking for a kid-proof model.... at last my choice has been for a basic one, calls and sms, monochromatic display and small price. So I don't have to care for how long it lasts.

Il tweed mi piace, assai. E queste calzine si sono guadagnate un posto d'onore, belle calducce, un pò maschili forse... Finite queste ho cominciato un nuovo BSJ per il nuovo bimbo (a proposito, si chiamerà Lorenzo): per fortuna gli altri due sono scampati al lavaggio selvaggio, solo perchè li avevo conservati così bene che non li trovavo più. Almeno questi...

I do really like tweed yarn, and these socks have a special place among my favorites, so warm they are and even a bit manly... Now I've started a new BSJ for the new baby (well, his name will be Lorenzo): fortunately the two other BSJs have saved from the crazy washer only because I couldn't find them. Something survived at least!

Lavaggi selvaggi (crazy washing)

Lavatrice pazza colpisce ancora. Ho cominciato a rinfrescare tutte le tutine piccole di Damiano per l'arrivo del fratellino, previsto per i primi di aprile. Naturalmente mi sono incasinata e nel cesto ho messo pure tutti i golfini di lana che mia suocera aveva fatto amorevolmente per Damiano, ho selezionato 60° ed avviato con doppio risciacquo. Ho pianto ininterrottamente per due ore: le tutine sono perfette, ma i golfini si sono irreparabilmente infeltriti. Ho salvato solo i bottoncini, mia suocera si è impegnata a rifarli di nuovo... amore di nonna.

Crazy washer is back: I've started washing all the tiny clothes I used for Damiano, his brother is due for the beginning of April. Unfortunately I've washed together all the wool sweaters and jackets my mother-in-law did for him, and selected 60° degrees. Everything wooly felted. I cried two hours at least. My mother-in-law has promised to knit them again, just keep the buttons she said....

Per il resto poca roba, abbiamo avuto l'influenza a turno e ci siamo trascinati per circa tre settimane fra tachipirine ed antibiotici. Sembra passato, io ho cominciato delle calzette tweed, lavorate insieme col metodo magic loop dalla punta, così non mi devo ricordare tutti i punti che metto e calo. Funziona, ma forse sarebbe meglio concentrarsi su qualche altro BSJ visto il danno che ho fatto.Nothing more, we all have been flu for more or less three weeks. Now it's a bit better, and I've started some tweed socks, worked together with the magic loop method, toe up so I don't have to remind every inc and dec I knit. It works, but I must rush to work on some BSJ more given the disaster I did.

Barbara, ehm, c'erano anche le tue scarpine nella lavatrice... non è che me le rifaresti??

Collezione estiva (summer collection)

In queste feste mi sono ritrovata a cucire un pò, naturalmente non per me (a parte una cosina che mi sa che mostrerò qualche altra volta) ma per Pitch. Ho trovato del bel gabardine di cotone ed un modello di pantaloni lunghi su un vecchio Burda con tasconi laterali ed elastico in vita e alle caviglie. Qualche piccola modifica e ho tirato fuori tre versioni diverse: quella originale in blu elettrico con tasca con pieghe, una in beige con tasca liscia ed una in azzurro con taschine sul dietro con granchietto applicato. Ha gradito, soprattutto il granchietto. E la maglia? Procede anche quella, un pò più lentamente...

During these holidays I've sewed a bit, not for me obviously (except for a little thing that I'll show you one of the next times) but for Pitch (Damiano). I've purchased some cotton gabardine tissue and found a pattern for summer trousers on an old Burda magazine. The pattern has a fisherman look, with pockets on the sides and elastics on the belt and the bottom of the legs. With some little modifications I've realized three different trousers: the original one, in electric blue, a beige pair with flat pocket and a light blue one with pockets in the back, with applied crab. He loved all, the crab most. And what about knitting? It goes on, more slowly....

Apest è una simpatica blogghista, pubblica golosissime ricette e robine di maglia e cucito. Ha scritto un utilissimo post su dove trovare e/o acquistare cartamodelli per cucito. Grazie a lei ho recuperato un cartamodello per tute/pigiamini per bambini, che sembra una cosa facile ma non lo è affatto. L'ho comprato ad un prezzo ragionevole su Simplicity, ed è questo qua. Vedremo cosa verrà fuori quando arriverà. Intanto, ripasso consigli e tecniche dalla Bibbia del cucito: "Manuale di cucito", pubblicato da Burda ed acquistato in edicola tempo fa.

Apest is a nice blogger, she posts yummie cooking recipes and knitted and sewed things. She has wrote a very useful post about sewing patterns, precisely where to find and/or purchase them. I've found a pattern for baby/toddler pajamas and jumpsuit that I needed and couldn't find anywhere else. I've bought it on Simplicity, and it is this one. Waiting for its delivery, I'm reading tips and tricks on sewing Bible "Handbook of sewing" edited by Burda and purchased long ago.
