Lavaggi selvaggi (crazy washing)

lunedì 2 febbraio 2009

Lavatrice pazza colpisce ancora.

Crazy washer is back: I've started washing all the tiny clothes I used for Damiano, his brother is due for the beginning of April. Unfortunately I've washed together all the wool sweaters and jackets my mother-in-law did for him, and selected 60° degrees. Everything wooly felted. I cried two hours at least. My mother-in-law has promised to knit them again, just keep the buttons she said....

Nothing more, we all have been flu for more or less three weeks. Now it's a bit better, and I've started some tweed socks, worked together with the magic loop method, toe up so I don't have to remind every inc and dec I knit. It works, but I must rush to work on some BSJ more given the disaster I did.

Barbara, err, I've felted your booties too... could you reknit them???

Collezione estiva (summer collection)

During these holidays I've sewed a bit, not for me obviously (except for a little thing that I'll show you one of the next times) but for Pitch (Damiano). I've purchased some cotton gabardine tissue and found a pattern for summer trousers on an old Burda magazine. The pattern has a fisherman look, with pockets on the sides and elastics on the belt and the bottom of the legs. With some little modifications I've realized three different trousers: the original one, in electric blue, a beige pair with flat pocket and a light blue one with pockets in the back, with applied crab. He loved all, the crab most. And what about knitting? It goes on, more slowly....

Auguri (Best wishes to you)

Grazie Apest! (Thank you Apest!)

Apest is a nice blogger, she posts yummie cooking recipes and knitted and sewed things. She has wrote a very useful post about sewing patterns, precisely where to find and/or purchase them. I've found a pattern for baby/toddler pajamas and jumpsuit that I needed and couldn't find anywhere else. I've bought it on Simplicity, and it is this one. Waiting for its delivery, I'm reading tips and tricks on sewing Bible "Handbook of sewing" edited by Burda and purchased long ago.

Hippie baby

Colori? Vitaminici, arancia e kiwi.

I've crocheted a sweater for my kid Damiano, raglan sleeves from the top down, vitaminic colors, orange and kiwi. He seams to like. What he likes most is the big ball of tweed mixed wool (Grignasco Piccolo tweed) that I've purchased to make him another sweater... supersoft, like a teddy bear!

L'hobby del cucito (my sewing crafting)

I never confessed but I can sew. I've learned by myself reading the Burda magazine and now I have reached a satisfactory skill level. My tools are a Necchi sewing machine like this one (not quite this one, because mine is a bit old) and a very useful cutting/sewing Singer machine, this one. I didn't use them for a while because of lack of time, but my growing belly is forcing me to renew my clothes. Here is a wool Tee-shirt with a matched cape in a thick wool jersey, fabrics purchased at Ciolino e Nanfa.

I've found this lovely pattern for a gnome hat (called "Ganomy Hat") in Knitter's Almanac from EZ. I've rearranged it to have a toddler size and a lighter yarn than specified, and added I-cords to block it on my kid's head. It works!
