Ero in motorino stracarica di sacchi della spesa quando si è messo a piovere, ed io ho cominciato a imprecare.... e poi è successo questo:

A casa nuova! (In the new house!)

Ce l'abbiamo fatta alla fine: trasferiti. Abbiamo tutto l'essenziale: luce, acqua, gas, ed è cominciata l'avventura: i bimbi tutti e due da soli nella loro camera (anche il piccolo che ancora stava con noi). E' andata: hanno dormito come angioletti. Io no: troppo stress e stanchezza, ci vorrà ancora un pò di tempo. Come ovvio, abbiamo scordato un sacco di cose nella casa di Sferracavallo, tanto per dirne una i miei ferri circolari e quindi ho dovuto cominciare il primo paio di calzine dell'anno (sì, perchè per me l'anno comincia con l'autunno) e della nuova casa sui 4 ferri. Non sono pratica, ma ci sto facendo l'abitudine. Naturalmente sto programmando una scappata a Sferra per prenderli... insieme a tanta altra roba.

We moved at last. We have all we need, well the basics at least (water, methane, electricity). It was time to start this new challenge: kids all alone in their own room (Lorenzino too...). It works: they have slept like angels since the first night, me not exactly, too stressed and anxious. But it's just a matter of time. As it always happens in these situations we forgot a lot of things in the "summer" house: my circulars, for istance. This is why I have started a new pair of socks, first of this year (yes, for me a new year starts at fall) and in the new location, on 4 needles. I wasn't used to manage them, but I'm training. I plan a fast trip to Sferracavallo to catch the circulars... and many other things!

Le pezze (My patches)

Una cosa che mi piace un sacco della casa nuova è il ripostiglio. Non avevo mai avuto un ripostiglio. Ovviamente l'ho riempito di tutte le cose dei miei hobby: ad esempio tonnellate di gomitoli e chilometri di scampoli di tessuti. Le "pezze", come le chiama mio marito. Avevo dimenticato quante erano: quattro grosse scatole ed un saccone di carta pieni di seta, lino, cotonine, maglina, ecc.

What I like most in the new house is the closet. I never had a closet. As a matter of fact I have already filled it with all my crafty things such as tons of yarn balls and yards and yards of fabrics. The "patches", as my husband calls them. Here they are: four huge boxes and a big paper bag full of silk, jerseys, cotton, wool, linen etc. Wow. I had forgotten how many they were.

Ma la mia fame compulsiva di "pezze" non si placa, e sento il bisogno di alcune nuove magline in cotone per fare abbigliamento sportivo e pigamini per i bimbi. Purtroppo con la crisi gli ultimi due negozi di tessuti che preferivo hanno chiuso, ed adesso per trovare qualche scampolo bisogna andare al mercato. Uff! Girando su internet ho trovato però un bel negozietto: MYKAOS, il cui gentilissimo proprietario mi ha preparato un piccolo stock di scampoli di maglina di cotone in colori "da maschietto" ad un ottimo prezzo. E' in arrivo un pacco. Non ditelo a mio marito...

But my compulsory need for "patches" never fades, so I'm currently looking for some new cotton jersey fabrics to sew some sportswear and pajamas for kids. Unfortunately two of the fabric shops I was used to visit in Palermo closed recently due to the economic crisis. Remnants can be bought only at markets. Looking on the net I have found a nice web shop: MYKAOS, in which the lovely owner has collected FOR ME (!) a little amount of jerseys in "little men" colors at a very good price. A parcel is arriving. Don't tell my husband...

Aggiornamento veloce (A fast update)

Nel frattempo abbiamo traslocato, almeno le cose sono state traslocate, noi ci sposteremo solo a fine estate forse fine ottobre. Casa più grande a Palermo, al momento piena di scatoloni fra i quali innumerevoli gomitoli e metri di tessuto. Finalmente avranno il loro spazio.

Per restare sana di mente in questo folle mese ho continuato la borsa a uncinetto tunisino, provando anche un punto diverso alla fine. Al momento è solo una lunga striscia.

E poi ho cominciato un maglioncino a uncinetto preso da un modello di una rivista di qualche anno fa, forse un Sabrina speciale uncinetto (aggiornamento del 26/07: ho controllato ed è Diana Moda all'uncinetto no.19). E' mostrato in arancione ma non sono riuscita a trovare una tinta bella come quella della foto così mi sono buttata sull'azzurro, il mio colore preferito.

In the meanwhile we moved, well things moved, to a new larger house in Palermo, even if we'll stay by the sea until the end of summer, maybe end of October. Packages, lots of packages everywhere are waiting to be opened and things to be stored in their new location. Among them, lots of yarn balls. And yards of fabrics. Fortunately, now we have room for them.

To keep mental sanity in this last crazy month I've went on with my tunisian stitch bag, which at the moment is a long multicolor stripe. I have tried a new stitch at the end, which will be the folded part to close the bag. We'll see. And even if this project is not finished I've started a new and more challenging one, always crochet. A couple of years ago I found the pattern of a lovely sweater in a magazine (it should be Sabrina speciale uncinetto, but I'm not sure at the moment - 07/26 update: I checked and it's Diana Moda all'uncinetto no. 19). It was shown in a bright orange shade but I couldn't find a similar shade, so I've changed to sky blue, my favourite.
